Customer Profile:
This customer is one of the “Top 10” retailers in the country. They operate around 900 full line, and 1300 specialty stores. They have been a direct customer of Tempt In-Store Productions since our inception in the fall of 2008.
This retailer operates from a “core” vendor philosophy, and we have been certified as a core vendor. As such, we see most of the programs and items produced by this client for their retail stores. We work within their proprietary system to receive specifications, bid jobs, receive PO’s and enter invoices.
Scope of Work:
This account uses Tempt for a wide range of program types. We are able to produce programs such as prototype stores one offs for executive review and approval – through full Holiday campaigns that feature standard and custom signage, ceiling displays and complex kit packing and distribution. We are often the partner of choice when something is unexpectedly needed or required in an unusually quick turn time (same day/next day).
Two typical programs that show our range of work:
“Test Market”
This program consisted of: 50 each of 10 designs, 28×52, print 2/s on .024, digital print
Timing: 4 days from notification to shipment of kits direct to stores
Holiday Promotion “Front Entrance”
This program consisted of: Storewide distribution of various versions, 30×30, 60×30, (litho on corrugate) – 4000 each of 3; 40×30 (litho on corrugate) – 5000 of 5; 11×7, 5.5×24, 11×14 (litho on .012) – 500,000 total pcs. Kit pack, label and distribute.
Timing: Approx. 2 ½ weeks from release to shipment
Best Practices
Challenge: National Retailer with store count of 1100 needed a new solution to produce oversize backwalls at a size of 144 x48 inches. The challenge was to provide a strong digital solution, as the quantities ranged at 200 and less with multiple versions of graphics.
Solution: After learning of the customer’s need at a meeting in March, we set out to find a digital solution that would provide an economical and quality print. We were after a high quality image, but speed was essential due to the turnaround and quantity requirements. Our current digital solution was limited to 120 inches. After some quick research and field testing of suitable images, we had a solution purchased and installed by August to produce the product for this customer’s Holiday Shoe program.
As an added benefit, we were able to now run this size product with the balance of a store-wide Holiday Shoe program (73 items ranging in size from 14×22 to 48×144) and pack the oversize items out as part of the same program. This saved production cost, the actual carton and shipping cost of sending the item alone, and of course, less confusion at the store level by sending only one carton for the program.
Since this initial success, we continue to provide a wide range of production on this oversize product. We are currently handling a nationwide roll-out of specialty backwalls that are part of a campaign to upgrade the appearance of key areas of the store.
Challenge: A new retail customer was looking for digital solutions on heavy styrene (.060) that would enable quality and price improvements over current screen printing methods. We were able to offer up a test run using a live file to demonstrate the quality and production aspects of our high speed, digital UV press.
Solution: As a result of this test, and further competitive price checking, we were able to offer a new solution that provided a discernable quality improvement (it is a product placed in a “beauty” environment), a price advantage, a shorter delivery cycle and a production process that actually created less waste for an environmentally conscious customer. This is a program that currently runs monthly, and for special events.
Challenge: Customer has a series of complex issues related to materials, sizes and finishing requirements that resulted in the program being broken out to various vendors for production (litho, large format, digital, assembly, distribution). This system resulted in additional expenses, as well as timing issues, consistency of quality and confusion at the store level.
Solution: We were able to evaluate the current needs and competitively price a solution to “single source” the programs here at Tempt. We did this using our unique digital solution, combined with our offset offering to produce all elements (size and material) and finishing capabilities. As a result, the customer improved the overall manageability of the process, was able to single ship to the store locations, and netted time savings in the total start to finish. In addition, the overall quality of the programs improved as consistency was enhanced through a single source production process.
